Where the rarest species still thrive
The Chocó-Darién region holds more endemic species per square kilometre than almost anywhere on Earth. Our projects protect jaguars, harpy eagles, poison frogs found nowhere else. This is not abstract conservation, it is the difference between extinction and survival for species the world will never see again.
Water that flows clean
Standing forest means clean water. It means soil that holds. It means rain that falls where it should.
Soil stability and pollination networks
Protected forests regulate water cycles, stabilise slopes against erosion and maintain the pollinator populations that downstream agriculture depends on. These are not benefits that appear in spreadsheets until they are gone.
How we track what matters
Three layers of observation keep the picture honest. Satellite and LiDAR see the forest from above. Ground teams walk the land and measure what is there. Communities who live in these forests report what they know.
Satellite and LiDAR imaging
Remote sensing captures forest cover, detects change and provides the baseline against which all other measurements are checked.
Ground-truthing surveys
Field teams verify what the satellites see, measure biomass, assess forest health and collect the data that turns pixels into proof.
Community forest patrols
Local monitors walk their territories, record observations and provide the ground knowledge that no satellite can match.
Independent auditors check the work
Plan Vivo-certified verifiers conduct annual and periodic audits. Results are published in a transparent registry that anyone can access. The numbers here are not ours alone, they are certified.
